Whilst pursuing a varied repertoire, Laurence Equilbey is particularly interested in a cappella singing (without instrumental accompaniment) and by the performance of the newly created works of contemporary composers.
It is difficult for every singer to find the "right note" spontaneously and to adapt his/her voice to the range of very precise intonations demanded by these works (1/4 or 1/3 tones).
In addition, the reference note A is subject to variations depending on the way certain orchestras or accompanists interpret the music, and on the type of instruments used.
In fact, a simple metallic tuning fork or the existing electronic tuning forks do not offer sufficient functionalities for demanding professionals or amateurs.
For this reason Laurence Equilbey conceived e-tuner: its multiple functionalities satisfy the demands of conductors, as well as those of singers, a fact that she has been able to verify in France and abroad, in the practice of her art.
Laurence Equilbey entrusted the analysis and the realisation of her project to a well known consultancy specialised in electronics, Alciom.
The Alciom team was able to apply its knowledge and experience to meet the challenge which it faced: a miniaturised musical instrument and tool, sophisti- cated in concept but simple to use, operable in a wide variety of circumstances, even during concerts.
